Ru-Jun Wang, Professor in the Practice/Resident Scenic Artist, B.F.A. Central Academy of Drama, Beijing, China (’82), M.F.A. University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana (’92). Since coming to Yale in 1992 Mr. Wang has taught Scene painting and Design Studio (figure drawing) and has supervised scene painting for all productions at both the Yale Repertory Theatre and David Geffen School of Drama. His other professional scenic painting credits include Lucia Di Lammermoor (Central City Opera), Hansel and Gretel (Washington National Opera), Mame (Kennedy Center), Lucie de Lammermoor (Glimmerglass Opera), Scene Painting Workshop in Taipei National University of Art, Ten Unknowns(Huntington Theatre), Three (Prince Music Theater), Translation(Long Wharf Theatre), Walking Thunder (Pilobolus Dance, Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian), The Notebook of Trigorin (Cincinnati Playhouse), and Romeo and Juliet (Actors Theatre of Louisville). Prior to pursuing his career in the U.S., Mr. Wang was the resident designer for the China Central Television in Beijing. His TV design credits include popular TV series A Journey to the West, Chinese New Year’s Eve Show (1987, 1989) and Quiz Show for the Foreign Students in Beijing.
