International Student Applicants
International Student Applicants
The David Geffen School of Drama welcomes applications from students from around the world. All applications are carefully reviewed regardless of citizenship or country of residence.
Students applying from abroad follow essentially the same procedure and have the same application requirements as all other students. For detailed application information by academic program please visit our admissions webpage.
In-person admissions auditions and/or interviews are typically scheduled during the months of January, February, and March. Any applicant invited to audition and/or interview will be expected to be ready and able to travel to the United States. International applicants are encouraged to plan their tourist visit to the United States in advance. The wait time for a B-1/B-2 tourist visa application interview can vary, so early application is strongly encouraged. It is important to apply for a tourist visa well in advance of the travel departure date.
Financial Aid
Thanks to a generous donation from the David Geffen Foundation all students in degree and certificate programs receive full tuition scholarships. International students are eligible to apply for need-based financial aid for living expenses, and also follow essentially the same financial aid procedure as other students. Please note that if your application materials include any documents that are not in English, you must provide an official English translation in addition to the original documents. For detailed information please visit our Financial Aid webpage.
English Proficiency
If English if not your first language, you must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) iBT or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test by January 15. The school code for the TOEFL iBT is: 3988. We do not have a minimum TOEFL or IELTS score but we expect candidates to be fluent in English. If you have an undergraduate bachelor's degree from an accredited institution where English was the primary language of instruction, you do not need to take the TOEFL.
