Matthias grew up in a quiet part of southern Germany, playing the violin, piano, drums, and an array of orchestral percussion instruments at a young age. His journey into recording, mixing and music production began in his teens, leading him to Frankfurt,
where he earned his stripes before relocating to New York City in 2006. Since then, Matthias has been an integral part of an audio team that has won 13 Emmy Awards and has received 21 Emmy nominations for a variety of television shows as well as other projects that have went on to receive other prestigious nominations and awards. His recent notable works include three Grammy-nominated albums, “Sondheim Unplugged” (2023), the Pulitzer Prize-winning show “A Strange Loop” (2022), and Burt Bacharach & Steven Sater’s “Some Lovers” (2021). Other Broadway and Off-Broadway cast records include The Visit, The Lightning Thief, Bandstand, The Shaggs, Once On This Island, Nevermore, Kid Victory, John and Jen, Heathers, Cambodian Rock Band, Broadbend Arkansas, The View Upstairs, Broadway Bares, Big Fish, Between the Lines, See Rock City, ROW, Bella, Amelie and many more. Notable TV/streaming credits include: SNL (NBC), Over The Moon (Netflix), Sesame Street, Electric Company (PBS), Disney’s Johnny and the Sprites, Bella and the Bulldogs (Nickelodeon), One Life to Live (ABC), The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (NBC), Macy’s Parade and Podcasts for Marvel and the New York Times. Music production, recording, and mixing credits include the likes of Snoop Dogg, Cam’ron, the Wu-Tang Clan, Xzibit, DMX, Jadakiss, Kool G Rap, CeeLo Green, KRS One, Gucci Mane, Kurupt, The Game, Nate Dogg, Common, One Direction, Fifth Harmony, Taylor Swift, Ne-yo, John Legend, Pharrell, Tori Kelly, Leon Bridges, Katy Perry, Josh Groban, Ellie Goulding, Will.I.Am, Danny Elfman, Alessia Cara, Meryl Streep, Richard Kind and Jennifer Hudson.
