Christine Szczepanski

Assistant Professor Adjunct of Technical Design and Production at David Geffen School of Drama at Yale, and Costume Shop Manager

In 18 seasons as the Costume Shop Manager for Paper Mill Playhouse, recipient of the Regional Theatre Tony Award, Christine has overseen the costumes for some 80 wide-ranging musicals and plays, including ambitious builds for premieres and pre-Broadway productions such as A Bronx Tale, The Hunchback of Notre DameThe StingBandstandCan-CanHoneymoon in Vegas, and Newsies, as well as the 25th Anniversary Production of Les MisérablesThe Bodyguard, and Little House on the Prairie, each launching national tours from Paper Mill. She has helped bring to life the visions of Tony nominees and winners William Ivey Long, Paul Tazewell, Jess Goldstein, Catherine Zuber, Gregg Barnes, Ann Hould-Ward, David Zinn, and David Woolard, in addition to rising stars like Paloma Young, Brian Hemesath, Alejo Vietti, and dozens more. She served as the costume designer for several national tours (Damn YankeesShow BoatBig) along with regional, Off-Broadway, and opera companies. Her previous costume shop experience includes the Santa Fe Opera and New York City Ballet. Christine holds an M.F.A. from Temple University and a B.S. from SUNY New Paltz, and she currently resides in Hamden, Connecticut, with her husband John-Paul, a lighting designer, and their two sons.
