Lecturer in Theater Management

Andrew D. Hamingson, Lecturer in Theater Management, has been a faculty advisor and lecturer since 1995. Andy is the Founder and Principal of AD Hamingson & Associates a boutique Development Consulting firm founded in 2011.  He and his team of 12 have provided fundraising and strategic planning services to performing arts clients such as Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, National Black Theatre, Zuckerberg Media, ART/NY, Lake Placid Center for the Arts, Classical Theatre of Harlem, The New Group, Theater Forward, St. Ann’s Warehouse, The Civilians, Staten Island Arts, and National Sawdust, among dozens of others across the US. Most recently Andy served as Interim Executive Director for Second Stage. In addition Andy is the Founder of ADH Theatricals, LLC, which is dedicated to producing and touring the highest quality drama and live performances from America and Europe to North America and beyond. In 2019, ADHT co-presented the US Premiere of The King’s Speech at Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Previous tours included The Woman in Black, the National Theatre of Great Britain’s production of An Inspector Calls directed by Stephen Daldry, the Royal Shakespeare Company/Filter Theatre production of Twelfth Night, Private Peaceful, and Paterson Joseph’s Sancho. Andy was the first Executive Director of St. Ann’s Warehouse as well as Executive Director of the Public Theater. While at The Public, Hair won the 2009 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical. Before joining The Public, Andy served as Atlantic Theater Company’s Managing Director from 2004 where ATC’s world premiere of Spring Awakening transferred to Broadway and won 8 Tony Awards including Best New Musical in 2007. He is Board Chair of Dance Heginbotham, a Trustee of 59E59 Theatres, and Building for the Arts.
