The University Theatre at 222 York Street is Yale School of Drama’s center, and the School has classrooms, production facilities and administrative offices in nine nearby buildings in the heart of downtown New Haven, CT. Learn more about our campus.
Arriving by Car
Take Exit 47, (flyover bridge) marked Route 34, Downtown New Haven. Take last of 3 exits to city streets from Route 34 onto North Frontage Road, and then take immediate right onto York Street.
The Registrar’s Office is located two blocks on the right side at 149 York Street.
The School of Drama (University Theatre) is about three blocks on the left side at 222 York Street.
There is metered parking on the street. There are two parking lots on York: Chapel-York Garage opposite the Registrar’s Office and another lot on the right side behind Yale Rep.
Take Exit 1 marked Downtown New Haven, Route 34. The expressway ends and you must exit. Turn right onto York Street.
The Registrar’s Office is two blocks on the right side at 149 York St.

Travel East to Danbury. Continue on I-84 until you reach Exit 11-Route 34/Derby/New Haven. Take right at traffic light at end of ramp. Take right at second light-Route 34. Stay straight on Route 34 all the way into New Haven to the fork of Derby Avenue and George Street. Bear right onto George Street and continue for about 8 blocks to York Street. Turn left onto York Street.
The Registrar’s Office is located 1 block on the right side at 149 York Street.
The University Theatre (222 York Street) is about 2.5 blocks on the left side.

Take Exit 57 to Route 34 for 5 miles to the fork of Derby Avenue and George Street. Bear right onto George Street and continue for about 8 blocks to York Street. Turn left onto York Street.

Arriving by Air
Connecticut Limo service is available to/from Bradley. The ride is approximately one-hour and the cost is approximately $88 round trip.
You can arrange for a limo in advance by calling 1.800.922.6161 if you reside outside of New York and Connecticut. In Connecticut and New York you need to phone (203.878.2222) for advance reservations.
Consult your travel agent for airlines currently flying into New Haven’s Tweed Airport. Currently US Airways provides service.
Taxi service is available from the airport into town (about 10 or 15 minute drive). Metro Taxi service (203.777.7777) and Yellow Cab (203.777.5555), New Haven Taxi (203.777.6465) are available to the downtown area. The cost is approximately $12 each way.
Take Connecticut Limousine Service to New Haven. You can arrange for a limo in advance by calling 1.800.922.6161 if you reside outside of New York and Connecticut. In Connecticut and New York you need to phone 203.878.2222 for advance reservations. There are courtesy phones in the terminals.
Limos leave JFK and LaGuardia terminals every 15-20 minutes. Limos depart Newark to New Haven every two hours beginning 8:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and every hour beginning 2:15 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.
Metro Taxi service (203.777.7777); Yellow Cab (203.777.5555), New Haven Taxi (203.777.6465) provide service from the Limo Terminal to the downtown area. The approximate cost of round trip limo service from JFK and LaGuardia airports is $130, and the approximate cost from Newark Airport is $185.
It is approximately a 90-minute drive to New Haven from the New York Airports, and a two-hour drive to New Haven from Newark Airport.
Arriving by Train
Metro-North Commuter Railroad operates between New Haven and New York only. Phone 800.638.7646 for general information. Use Amtrak to and from New York, Boston, Hartford, etc. Phone 800.872.7245 for general information. Phone 800.523.8760 for Metroliner (train service by reservation only).
The New Haven train station is called Union Station and is approximately 1 mile from the School of Drama. It is recommended that you take a cab or bus to the School. Just exit the station and you will see the taxi stand at the main entrance/exit. When you are ready to return to the train station, call the taxi company in advance to pick you up. (Cost is approximately $6.)
You can take a bus (the A, J or U) line to the downtown area. To get to the station, take the Savin Rock/RR bus at the corner of Temple and Chapel. Bus information at Connecticut Transit (203.624.0151).
