Lecturer in Sound Design

Over nearly four decades, Bill Lacey has worked as a sound designer, re-recording mixer, mastering engineer and composer for some of the world’s top studios and television networks. He has worked on numerous Clio, Telly, ProMax, NY Film Festival and GEMA Gold
award-winning projects for Showtime Networks and Paramount +, including Yellowjackets, Dexter, Billions, Shameless and Homeland. His work in the music industry includes multiple Grammy-nominated records, including the historic recordings of Arturo Toscanini and the NBC Symphony and Franki Sinatra’s early recordings with Tommy Dorsey. He recorded the soundtrack for Martin Scorsese’s Cape Fear, remixed the 25th Anniversary release of The Sound of Music, restored the sound for Fellini’s La Dolce Vita and mastered The Muppet Christmas Carol soundtrack. His television work has included HBO, CBS, NBC Dateline, MTV, VH-1, and Saturday Night Live projects. Bill has also worked for Major League Baseball, mixing documentary sports programming and opening segments for FOX Sports live broadcasts. As a composer, Bill has written music for A Sesame Street Christmas Carol, numerous sports programs, indy films, documentaries, trailers, and promos and received a Pro Max Gold for Best Original Score for Showtime Networks House of Lies trailer. His recent work extends into thevideo game industry, and he is a Wwise Certified Instructor. He has written for industry-leading music and audio publications, including Sound On Sound and is currently writing a book on mixing for audio post-production for Routledge.
