Scott Bartelson (he/him/his) joined Yale from Hartford Stage where he most recently served as the Director of Internal Communications and Organizational Strategy. For 11 seasons he supported executive leadership, serving as a conduit between the board, senior team, and broader community. In 2016 he founded Stage One, an opportunity for millennial and gen z emerging leaders to be active participants and members of the board at large. During the pandemic, he was a strategic advisor and manager of the organization’s Raise the Curtain campaign which brought in $6M to support the ability of the theatre to re-open. Internally, he supported the building of an anti-racist and equity driven culture and coordinated continued learning and professional development opportunities for the staff and board.
Prior to Hartford Stage, Scott was the Producing Associate & Teaching Artist at Shakespeare on the Sound in Norwalk and worked for several years in the General Management office, Town Square Productions, in New York City producing theatre and events globally. He holds a B.S. in Educational Theatre from NYU, Steinhardt and is a passionate teaching artist for students of all ages, having taught at Second Stage, MCC Youth Theatre Company, TADA!, and the Trumbull Youth Association. He lives in East Rock, New Haven with his husband, Patrick.
