Alan C. Edwards ('11) Expands Teaching Role at Yale School of Drama

July 29, 2020

Alan C. Edwards, who has been teaching part-time at the School since 2016, has become a full-time Lecturer in Design and Lighting Design Advisor at Yale Repertory Theatre, effective July 1.

After receiving his BFA from Ithaca College, Alan completed his MFA at the School of Drama in 2011. Since that time, he has designed lighting and/or sets and projections for more than 100 productions across the nation. His work has been seen at major regional theaters including the Dallas Theater Center, Geffen Playhouse, Guthrie Theater, and Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and in New York at Classical Theater of Harlem, Manhattan Theater Club, Signature Theater, and Vineyard Theater, among many others. He has been honored with Audelco, Handy, and Lucille Lortel Awards, as well as earning additional nominations for the Audelco, Carbonell, Connecticut Critics Circle, Berkshire Theater, and Drama Desk Awards.

Alan has taught at Yale College, Adelphi University, University of New Haven, and DeSales University. Having collaborated closely with him on Yale Rep's 2010 production of A Delicate Balance, I am thrilled to know that a designer of such creativity, enthusiasm, and dedication is willing to increase his commitment to our program.
